Greeks Going Green
The Alpha Psi chapter of Delta Delta Delta sorority has worked tirelessly over the past year two years to plan, strategize and launch the Greeks Going Green environmental sustainability program. Preparations for the program and the campaign model came into being Fall of 2006.
The mission of Greeks Going Green is to promote environmental awareness and eco-friendliness within the Greek community by way of education and the implementation of sustainable living practices into all of the fraternity and sorority chapters at UF. The program strives to instill a sense of social responsibility in all of UF’s Greek men and women; encouraging them to recognize that we live in a world with limited resources, and a small change in an individual’s lifestyle can really go a long way in preserving for the future.
Each chapter has pledged to make a lifestyle change within its respective chapter house. Some have opted to install Compact Florescent Light bulbs, others are phasing out Styrofoam in kitchens to more eco-friendly disposable ware or Tupperware, and still others are using eco-friendly cleaning supplies for their housing staff.
Greeks Going Green, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, dedicated to mobilizing members of Greek communities nationwide to take action in reducing the carbon-footprints and boosting social responsibility among their peers and within their locale.
We are committed to the educational and charitable promotion of environmental awareness and sustainable living practices.
