Activities

Making the Most of Our College Years.

The ladies of Tri Delta are active in various organizations on campus and also involved within the Gainesville community.  The Alpha Psi Chapter and its members take great pride in being leaders and role models both within our chapter and on the UF campus.  Besides being leaders within the chapter, our members involvement also ranges from the Panhellenic Council, Student Government, Cicerones, ACCENT, Dance Marathon, College Board Councils and several UF sport and dance teams including Lacrosse and the Dazzlers.  Our sisters are spread throughout the campus and we are proud to have a chapter in which our members have a wide array of interests and activities in which they are involved with.  In order to keep our involvement on campus, we are continually encouraging each other to get involved on the UF campus.  Our older sisters have the experience and knowledge of how to get involved within the various organizations and therefore help younger sisters become active as well.

Athletics

One of the areas in which Tri Deltas love to participate in is Athletics.  Our sisters are involved in both competitive and just for fun sporting organizations.  We are very proud to have some of sisters representing our chapter and the University of Florida within sports such as the Lacrosse team and Basketball Dazzlers.  The Alpha Psi Chapter also strives to be involved in all of the sorority intramural sports that the Panhellenic Council organizes for each semester.  These intramural activities prove to be great times for our sisters to show off their athletic abilities and also come together as a chapter to either represent Tri Delta within the sport or on the sidelines.

The best part of being involved with athletics and intramurals is that we get to come together as a chapter and cheer on our fellow sisters within their events.  We also have sisters who get involved actively within the community whether it be club teams or running marathons within the Gainesville area.  Through Tri Delta we always promote a healthy and active lifestyle in any way our sisters feel appropriate for them.

UF Student Governmentsglogo

The University of Florida Student Government is a major part of our campus.  It is broken down into three branches: the Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial. The Student Government controls and distributes over $12 million annually to different UF student facilities and organizations on campus.  It is a governing body that is run on the input and work of students and is a great way for Tri Delta to get involved with and have our voices as a chapter heard.  We currently have two active student senators and have always had at least one sister serve as a senator for each of the fall and spring terms.  Tri Deltas have held or are currently serving roles within the different branches of Student Government as the Student Body Vice President, Budget and Information and Communication Committee Chairs, Museum Night’s Director and Cabinet directors.

beachTraveling & Studying Abroad

In taking our sisterhood beyond the city limits of Gainesville, Tri Deltas are always looking for fun ways to travel and study abroad together.  Whenever there is a free weekend or school holiday, our members take the time to take short vacations together whether it is to the sunny beaches of the Bahamas or the snowy slopes across the country.  What better way is there to get away from the crazy college life than to go and relax with your sisters?  These times have always proven yet another way in which our sisters come together and love to share time with each other outside of the academic setting.

In addition to our local travels, our sisters also love to travel abroad with each other.  Recently we have had sisters studying all over Europe including England, Spain and Italy.  Not all go for study though.  We also recently had sisters take time to just travel throughout Europe to visit all over including France, Switzerland, Germany, Amsterdam and Greece.  Many sisters came back with great memories of unexpectedly running into fellow sisters throughout Europe.  Even in a foreign country, there can still be familiar faces to see!

Working Hard for the Future

The things you may learn in the classroom are just as important as those lessons learned through jobs and internships.  Tri Deltas make no hesitation in not only being involved in their academics and organizations, but are also hard-working women locally and around the country.  Many of our members take part in the various jobs and internships found on campus, while others venture to other states to experience the real world.  This may either be a side job or a way in which our members can gain the future experience needed to succeed after their college years.

Tri Deltas can be found all around campus volunteering at local elementary schools, Shands Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House or working for the Education Department and getting behind the scenes experience at the UF news station.  Off campus and out of Gainesville, Tri Deltas can be found all over working for major corporations and companies all over the country.  Recently we had sisters interning at the McDonalds Corporation in Chicago, Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis, Westin Maui in Hawaii and Marie Claire in New York City.
